Whanau Advocacy & Peer Support Adults
SERVICES
- This is a non-clinical service available to whanau seeking support for their whanau (family)
- Supply information about mental illnesses, the mental health service system,
community resources and supports. - Assistance with strategies for coping with mental illness and its impact on the whanau (family)
- Making contact with other relevant mental health services or support groups
- Supply information about relevant legislation, rights and responsibilities.
CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY
- Kaumaatua (older adult), Pakeke (Adult), ages 17 years old and over experiencing mental illness
- Accepted Referral Types:
- GP
- DHB Clinical Services
- Health Worker
- Community Support Worker
- Self referral (Must currently be receiving clinical treatment from a
South Auckland mental health service.)
