Whanau Advocacy & Peer Support Adults

SERVICES

  • This is a non-clinical service available to whanau seeking support for their whanau (family)
  • Supply information about mental illnesses, the mental health service system,
    community resources and supports.
  • Assistance with strategies for coping with mental illness and its impact on the whanau (family)
  • Making contact with other relevant mental health services or support groups
  • Supply information about relevant legislation, rights and responsibilities.

CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY

  • Kaumaatua (older adult), Pakeke (Adult), ages 17 years old and over experiencing mental illness
  • Accepted Referral Types:
    • GP
    • DHB Clinical Services
    • Health Worker
    • Community Support Worker
    • Self referral (Must currently be receiving clinical treatment from a
      South Auckland mental health service.)
